Review: Seventh Generation – Lemongrass & Clementine Zest Natural Dish Liquid

seventhdishsoap.JPG The Lemongrass & Clementine Zest Natural Dish Liquid Soap is just one of many natural household products that the famous Earth-friendly company Seventh Generation produces.

Seventh Generation says that it is “committed to becoming the world’s most trusted brand of authentic, safe, and environmentally-responsible products for a healthy home.” But how do these products really fare when it comes to the word “natural”?

Although many dish soaps today claim to be gentle and safe for your hands, they often aren’t and may not necessarily be when it comes to the environment as many are phosphate and petroleum based. Secondly, many people do not give much thought to the chemical residues left over on their dishes, which end up being consumed, if the dishes are not rinsed properly as is often done when doing the dishes quickly. Hence, it is important to find a health-safe and environmentally-safe dish liquid.

A Possible Cure for Autism in Children - Their Diet

autismdiet.jpgThe word “autism” today has become all too common in our society. Most parents-to-be cringe at the thought of this term, while parents with non-autistic children breathe sighs of relief.

But what can be said about the high percentage of parents with autistic children?

Although I believe that everything is a blessing in disguise and nothing “bad” exists, from which does not come a greater good, I cannot ignore the struggles that many parents and family members have to face at one point or another with autistic children.

It is estimated today that 1 in 150 children are diagnosed with autism. Those are staggering statistics as they beat childhood cancers, diabetes and AIDS combined!

Currently it is not known what exactly causes Autism and there is no exact cure for it, but scientists are steadily working on these two areas and the latest research points to managing and perhaps even eradicating Autism through the child’s diet.

Weight Gain, Weight Loss

weightgain.jpgIn the latest research conducted and published in the Nature Neuroscience Online Journal, scientists conducted studies on the brain’s complex neurocircuitry and its role in maintaining energy balance that leads to weight gain and weight loss.

News like this is very beneficial for many to understand, as today 2/3 rds of Americans are overweight or obese!

Millions of dollars are wasted by many each year as they struggle with various diets. But to truly find an effective, long term solution you must really understand some basic biochemistry about your body. If you are unsatisfied with your weight, you must also realize that over 75% of the food out there is not suitable for maintaining a healthy weight and body. Hence, some major changes are needed in re-wiring our life style and eating habits if we are to be at an appropriate and healthy weight.

But for today, let us find out what the latest research has found.

Local Organic Farm Food

chickens.jpgFresh, local, wholesome, organic, nutritious food - those are words that I crave to have describe the food that I and all of us should eat.

However, in today’s times, they are just about as rare as cassette tapes, unless perhaps you have your own farm. And even then, most farms apply various chemicals to their crops and animals, none of which you want in your system and to add, treat their animals inhumanely.

So my search for such food is an ongoing journey. The first alternative to a grocery store was a local farmer’s market. We tried one, but found it very limited and organic produce was almost non-existent!

That is why I was thrilled, when a couple of days ago we had the great pleasure of finally going for a visit to a local, organic farm.

And what did we find there? Well, it wasn’t the ultimate solution, but it had one thing that was exactly what we were looking for…

Toxic Drugs, Toxic Systems And Unnecessary Deaths

pillbottles.jpgOkay, so it is no surprise that today, more than ever, most of the North American population is on one or more prescription medications.

It is quite disturbing to see that we have reached such a catastrophe. And do not fool yourself into thinking this is somehow normal - it is in fact a catastrophe when most of us cannot make it through the day without taking one or more prescription drugs.

So who or what is to blame? That is an easy question to answer. Aside from the government, businesses and the economy, the main culprits are: one, the drug companies (obviously) and two, the consumer (unfortunately).

See, the drug companies have discovered there is a great market in “trying” to help people get so called “better”. The key word is that they are stuck in the process of trying, because really they can’t ever have you get better or else you would end their lucrative cash flow. So they put out massive numbers of emotion induced commercials and ads that target the vulnerable consumer, and talk many a doctor into prescribing the latest and greatest drug to their patients.

As for the consumer, well sorry to say, but you are just as equally to blame. Many of us have not only bought into the ads, but have evolved to think that when it comes to our bodies, any unpleasant symptom needs a quick fix (treatment) instead of leading lives in the first place that focus on prevention. We get a headache, joint pain, or a cough… and what do we do, run to get a drug that will quickly erase the symptoms. The problem with this approach is that of course it is a short term solution as it never really solves the root of the problem, just masks it or gives us a quick way of coping with it.

Hence in this article, I want to talk about the greater cons rather than pros of taking many prescription meds and share with you the latest research, which states that Americans are likely exposed to unacceptable side effects of FDA approved drugs due to how these drugs are tested and marketed.
